Top Ten Reasons To Quit Pain Killers In-Depth - Reason #2

Reason #2: Your Work Is Suffering:

I can’t look at the news anymore; it’s just the same old story about how we’re all gonna die from this terrible economy. Ok ok, let it happen and lets get this depression over with so we can go back to worrying about useless crap like Lindsay Lohan crashing her car or some man getting pregnant.

Although I’m being tongue and cheek, a lot of people have lost their jobs and you’d be hard pressed not to know one of them right now. It seems like everything is so bad that you just want to go live in a cave somewhere and not come out until it’s all over. Well needless to say, if you have a good, solid job you need to do whatever you can to keep it until the economic climate settles a bit.

Wanna know one thing you can do to protect that well-paying job? Yup. You guessed it. Quit the pills. If for none of the other great reasons to quit your addiction, keeping yourself employed has to be one of the more compelling ones right now. If you’re the sole provider for your household, and you feel guilty about your addiction now, can you imagine the guilt that you’d feel if your performance suffered and you were no longer deemed “vital to the long-term success of your employer”?

And considering the amount of money that you probably pay for your addiction each month, it’s even more important to get your life back and take that first step. If you’re independently wealthy and self employed then I guess you have nothing really to worry about other than perhaps considering firing yourself for poor performance. But seriously, in this day and age, most of us can’t afford to feed what is an extremely expensive addiction and you certainly can’t afford to lose a good job if you’re supporting your family. If I sound like a “Nagging Nancy” well then fine, I’m nagging. What I’m really trying to do is emphasize the expense of your addiction and rationalize taking action now as opposed to being forced to take action later.

And if you’re saying to yourself, “Oh I’m fine, I’m an absolute rock when it comes to my performance at work” well again I have to beg to differ. You’re not. You might be doing ok and you might be doing what is expected but even people who are doing MORE than what’s expected are getting hosed right now. It’s tough all over out there…people are struggling regardless of whether or not they are popping pills. But please, do yourself a favor and don’t let pills be the reason why you become financially vulnerable. Can you imagine? Right now, some people don’t have to.
