What's in a LOGO? Withdrawal-Ease: A Proud Member of The Better Business Bureau

I equate the Better Business Bureau seal to the Good Housekeeping seal…it exudes trust. On the internet these days, it hard to know who to really trust because there are companies that have now profited (profiteered might I say?) from selling their “Everythings’s OK with this Site!” logo for outrageous prices that many e-commerce sites display proudly.  As you -the consumer- know best of all; trust is one of the key deciding factors when it comes to purchasing anything online. However, just because a company has a lot of security logos on their site does not mean that they are necessarily reputable or that their product is worth it.

The logos or certifications that I’m most proud of and that I think speak to the true value of our product are not our security logos. Customer privacy and security are not a privilege, they are your right. Withdrawal-Ease was recently accepted into the American Botanical Council which is a very prestigious group of companies and individuals who are committed to advancing scientific acceptance, use and education of medicinal herbs and other botanical modalities for a variety of illnesses and applications.

Withdrawal-Ease is also taking part in the newly formed National Conference on Addiction Disorders (NCAD) which is hosted in part by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) and various other foundations dedicated to advancing recovery and rehabilitative care for substance abuse and addiction. This is an important conference and Withdrawal-Ease will be renting a booth on the exhibit floor (#707). I’m excited to see some of the new technologies as well as meet some of the innovators in the field of addictionology. Nutritional Supplementation and Withdrawal-Ease are now front and center in the national discussion on drug recovery and rehabilitation which makes me very proud.

The most recent accreditation that Withdrawal-Ease has been pleased to receive is membership status in the Better Business Bureau. It has taken almost a year to get accepted and we’re thrilled that we have finally become a part of the BBB family. The reason for the long wait was two-fold. First of all, new companies (less than 16 months old) are not eligible for membership so we had to wait until Withdrawal-Ease was at least a toddler to even begin the approval process.

The second reason why it took so long is due to the diligence of the Better Business Bureau of Central Texas. You may not know this (I didn’t until recently) but not all Better Business Bureaus are the same. They are all independent agencies with a central mission and focus that abide by Better Business Bureau guidelines and principles.  It didn’t take long to find out the the Central Texas branch of the BBB are a bunch of tough cookies indeed. While it may be very easy for Withdrawal-Ease to become a member of the BBB in…say… Salt Lake City, it was definitely not the case for the BBB here in Central Texas. This is a good thing for you and for Withdrawal-Ease although it took more work and time on our part to become accepted. Withdrawal-Ease as far as I know is the first nutritional supplement company to be accepted into the Central Texas BBB! That’s pretty rarefied air. Nutritional supplements come with a lot of stigma and baggage attached to them; some of it well deserved. So when I first began the approval process with Jeff Comstock at The BBB of Central Texas, he was clear about his threshold and what Withdrawal-Ease would have to prove in order to gain membership status.

Not only did Withdrawal-Ease have to demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and customer security (we have logos!!!), we also had to prove that we were a company in good-standing with people in the clinical field, associations like The American Botanical Council as well as the addiction rehab community at large.  Most importantly, Withdrawal-Ease had to prove to the folks at The Better Business Bureau that our product did what it said it does….EASE Withdrawals. We do not have 10 million dollars to conduct a randomized clinical trial although I would take on all-comers. We had to prove that in conjunction with extremely high customer satisfaction, references from MD’s in addictionology as well as clinical abstracts that Withdrawal-Ease was an efficacious product. We spent a long time putting our argument together and I’m so pleased to announce that we are now officially part of the Better Business Bureau. As I mentioned, Withdrawal-Ease is the first nutritional supplement company to be accepted which is consistent with our commitment to innovation and  finding new ways to tackle old problems.

Ultimately, I think our acceptance into the BBB underscores the validity of what we are trying to do here at Withdrawal-Ease. We’re trying to make it possible to go through opiate withdrawals at home or in rehab as comfortably as possible so that our customers can move on with their lives.   We start out at an “A-” just because we’re a young company. It’s a good logo to have and one that I’m especially proud of.
